Death of Mrs. John W. Norman.
Mrs. Louisa Norman, wife of John W. Norman, of Barkley Tp., died about midnight Saturday night, Jan.3lst at the home of her nurse Miss Florence Wood, on Cornelia Street, in Rensselaer. She had been long in poor health with a pelvic trouble, complicated with a very weak heart. As the only hope of restoring her to health, or even prolonging her life for more than a short time, she was brought to Rensselaer and last Thursday underwent a very extensive surgical operation, at the house where she died. The operation was skillfully, and successfully performed, and the patient rallied from it very encouragingly, and up to within two hours before her death, she continued to give every indication of a successful and rapid recovery. But about 10 o’clock last Saturday night, her heart showed alarming symptoms of failure, and two hours later she passed away, from paralysis of that organ. Mrs. Norman’s maiden name was Day. She was the daughter of the late Wilborn Day, and his wife Margaret, who survives her at an advanced age. She would have been 42 years old in April, and was born in Barkley Tp; and on the very farm where she lived and from which she came to seek medical help in her last sickness. She also leaves four brothers and two sisters, only one of whom, Wm Day of Rensselaer, now lives in Jasper county. The others all live in distant states except George Day, who lives in Illinois, and will be j resent at her funeral. She married John W. Norman Oct. 15th, 1881, and to them were born six children, all of whom survive, to mourn with their father the loss of a most gentle, loving and faithful wife and mother. The youngest of the children is 9 years old. i
She was a member of Barkley Christian church, and the funeral will be held at that church, Tuesday, at IP o’clock, a. m. by Rev. T. A. Hall, of Rensselaer, Interment will be in the Smith cemetery in Barkley Tp.
