REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS.

SeDalor Bell, of Purler and Lake counties introduced a bill Tuesday whioh will very likely stir up warm debate when the time comes to take it up on the fbor of the Senate. The bill provides that when 40p9r cent, of the voters of an incorporated city or town present a petition to a oouncil, the oouncil shall not award a franchise to any corporation without submitting the proposition to the vote of the people. It is the direct application of the referendum. A few of the time-serving, fodder hunting, Republican papers of this distriot are attempting to censure The Republican for its well-deserved criticisms of Congressman Crumpaoker, but we notice that none of them try to answer our argumeots nor to give the facts in Orumpacker's great "Independent” record, to disprove our criticisms. Among these fodder banting papers is the Journal of Rensselaer, whose editor is in politios for what he oan get ont of it, and if there were more money in it, he would right now, instead of running a sham Republican paper, be again running a rabid populist sheet, as be did in times gone by. We twheoy by-the way, that his paper is "Dear Journal” now, in the letters that oome from a certain gentleman nqw traveling in the south, Yea! very Journal” indeed! For when that said geulleman was trying to disrupt the Republican party in this oounty during the recent campaign, the cowardly half-faoed Journal said not one word, while The Republican oame out and "scrapped" him to a frazzle, and defeated bis selfish schemes.
