The Carnegie Library.

There seems to be a universal approval in Rensselaer of Mr. Carnegie’s offer of a library building to our oity. And that the conditions will be complied with and gift secured seems to be taken for granted, by everyone. And that, indeed, is the rational view to take, for the obanoe is far too good to be lost.

A special meetiug of the directors of the Jasper Publio Library, to oonsider the matter was held Monday afternoon. The sentiment in favor of accepting the offer was unanimous and enthusiastic. A resolution was Adopted, expressing approval of the offer, and requesting the City Council to provide a tax for raising the SI,OOO per year to support the library, as required by Mr. Carnegie’s offer. A committee was selected to wait on the oity counoil, at their meeting next Monday night, to present the matter and ask their favorable action. The committee is composed of the following: Delos Thompson, T. J. MoOoy, Rev. C, D. Royse, J. J. Hunt, R. B. Porter.
