Right Way to Stop Lynching.

Sheriff Dudley, of Sullivan county, the man from whose custody the black brute Dillard was taken and lynobed is, according to a fool and unjust .law passed by the last legislators; and by a still more unjust decision of Gov. Durbin, now supposed to be deprived of hls 'offioe, and made ineligible to r re-election or reappointment. Yet it was shown at the hearing bsfqre the governor that he did everything he reasonably could to prevent the lynching, exoept;to take the lives of some of the, justly enraged citizens of that County who were bent oa dealing ont summary justice to that beast in buiiiah form. But Dudley, we notioVstill holds the office, and all tbe ofltoials and evidently all the oounty, are behind him. We hope ha will oontinue to hold it until the fool MVg^ietooves him is declared unconstitutional or repealed. The right way to cure tbd lynching habit is Dot by unjustly which the people have. elected them; nor by the Crompacker plan, which is a ten year old humbug revamped, of penalizing the counties.where they take place, but it is a general reform in the laws and methods Of court practice, to the that the law may more surely and more speedily punish brutal murderers and still more brutal raviehers like Dillard.

R* W. Marshall’s law office is in the oounty building, formerly used for the circuit clerk’s office, op posite east side of the court house Mr Marshall will give the bene fits of his long experience and practice in thp law, to any and everybody having’legal business to transact.
