Want Laws Revised and New Code.
The bar associations of several counties of the state have under consideration a bill to revise and codify the statutes of Indiana, and the intention is to ask the legislature to pass it. The bill will provide lor the Ippointment of a commission to do the work. The last revision of the Indiana statutes was in 1881. There had been several revisions previous to that time. The last commission was composed of James W. Frasier, former judge of the supreme court, Senator Turpie and Judge Stotsenburg. The revised laws at that time were contained in one volume. Sinoe that time many legislatures have passed all kinds of laws, amended others and repealed many, until now the lawyers say there is such a general hodgepodge of laws that something has to be done. According to the proposed bill the commission is to be appointed by the governor.
