Had Experience In The Great Forest Fires.
The relatives of B. W. Ellsworth, of Barkley Tp., who live in Washington state, and whom be visited some months ago. were among those who had experience with the great and destructive forest ires that prevailed in Oregon and Washington the past fall. His mother, who lived alone, ~was awakened at 10 o’clock at night by the light in her windows of the approaching fires Being awakened she began to fight the burning brands that the wind brought to proximity of her house. In this work she was soon assisted by her son and another man, and her place was saved. The fire was so close that the beat killed all her window plants, in the house. Her son, Mr. Ellsworth’s brother, had all his farm fences burned, but saved his buildings.
