A Fo rmcr Resident’s Terrible Accident at Kokomo. James L. Shaw, a recent former resident of Rensselaer, met with a terrible accident Tuesday night. He was crossing some railroad tracks at Kokomo and was run down by a switch engine and both his feet were cut off. News of the accident was telephoned here to hie son. Charles Shaw, who works at Hemphill’s livery barn, and be left for Kokomo on the night train. He appeared not to have obtained very full particulars how the accident occurred nor of his father’s condition, but be left here greatly in fear that the shock of such great injury would be'greater than his father could survive. Mr. Shaw, the victim of the ac cident, left here some months ago, having previous to his departure lived here for some time, perhaps a year or more, and was mainly engaged in the scavenger business. He is quite well advanced in years.
