Court House Bonds Paid.
Comity Treasurer Purkison has just paid the first of the court house bends to come due. The amount paid was 810,000 and it was in ten SI,OOO bonds. These were really not dne until Jan. Ist, 1903, but the payment had to be made this year to oome within tbs terms of the oounty council’s appropriation. The next payment on the court house will not be due until the expiration of two years, namely Jan. Ist, 1905. The payments will oome slowly until 1911, after which they will mature faster. It looks now like it was a mistake not having the bonds mature faster. It would be no very great burden on the people of Jasper County to pay $5,000 every year now, and twice that amount in a few years. These bonds are all held by the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, of Milwaukee. The court house debt tax levy, for both principal and interest, is now only 5 cents on the SIOO assessed valuation.
