Unanimously Endorse Hanley’s Nomination.
That Action Taken By The Newton County Republican Committee • Last Saturday. The Republican Central Committee of Newton county, held a meeting at Brook, last Saturday, ! after the county convention, and unanimously ratified and endorsed the nominations of Charles W. Hanley for judge and of John D. Sink for prosecuting attorney. The meeting was attended by 14 members of the committee and their vote in favor of the endorsement was without a dissenting voice. The full committee, being one for each precinct, consists es 19 members. Of these one Fred Foresman, of Brook, who has always been a Hanley supporter, has recently died, leaving a present membership of 18. Thus there were four members absent from the meeting. Of these four at least one, Hartley of Goodland, is also a strong Hanley man. Thus of the full membership of the committee, as it existed before Mr. Foresman’s death, 16 out of 19 members would have favored the endorsement of the action of the judicial convention. But even the 11 members actually voting for endorsement were more, as we are credibly informed, than were present when the illadvised resolution was adopted early in March demanding the annulment of the call for the judicial convention, And of those present at that meeting not all, by any means, favored that action, And of those that did favor it then, * the most of them did so through misinformation of the true circumstances of the case, end have regrettea their action every since. In fact there has not been a 1 time since within two weeks before the judicial convention, when the Republican committee, if called together, would not have receeded from their mistaken action in repudiating the call for the judicial convention.
