Fined For Whipping a Child.

Wesley Price, of Barkley, was brought in this Tuesday morning, by Constable Vick, on a warrant sworn out by Allen Caldwell. He plead guilty to the charge of assault and battery, before Squire Troxell, and he Assessed a fine of $lO and coots, or $27.60 in all, which Price paid. It io an aggravated case. On the night of Oct 7th. Price went home intoxicated and terribly whipped an 8 year old boy, Othel Caldwell, son of the complainant, until his body was covered with cuts and welts, which still show plainly. The boy’s mother io dead, and his father, who works for Mark Reed, in Barkley, had left him in Mr. Price’s care.
