The County Convention.
Charles C. Warner Nominated For I Clerk On the First Ballot C. E. Milts Elected County Chairman to Succeed Mr. Warner. The re-assembled county con- - vention met in Ellie’ opera house r at 2.30 p. m. last Tuesday Oct. 14, to nominate a candidate for clerk of the circuit court It was celled to order by C. E. Mi 1 Is, acting for the county chairman, and County Secretary Leopold read the call. W. H. Robertson, of Wheatfield | was elected chairman and 0. H, Peck, of Remington, secretary. Ruy Thompson and Geo. Scott, John Westfall and Wm. Halle, tellers. On call of the townships, Union presented, Estil E. Pierson; Hanging Grove, W. R. Lee; Marion, 0. C. Warner. A single ballot settled the matter as follows: Warner 103 votes. Pierson 83 “ Lee 16 “ number oast 202 Necessary to choice 102 ’ Mr. Warner having received a majority of ail the votes oast was declared nominated. He thanked the convention for the honor; and the work of the convention being over, the chairman then introduced M. L. Clawson, of Indianapolis, who addressed the convention. A called meeting of the county central committee was held immediately after the convention, when Mr. Warner resigned as oonnty chairman, and Chas. E. Wills. a former very able chairman was elected in his place. Mr, Mills, having formerly been county secretary, Moses Leopold, was elected to that position •
