<; FRIDAY. Uncle Isaac Dann, of Dannville,' is in town today. B F. Ferguson made a business trip to Monticello this afternoon. Merle Benjamin went to Monticello yesterday afternoon for a short visit. Mrs. Jay Lamson returned from a several days’ visit at Chicago yesterday afternoon. Mrs. A* Harmon returned from a tliree weeks visit at LaSalle, 111., today. Miss Hazel Warner went to Monticello yesterday afternoon for a few days’ visit with relatives. B. F. Corbon, John Holoock, and Robert Hay of Bradford, 111., are here looking for,land. 4 JJorace Marble, of Wheatfield, and an extensive owner of Mississippi real estate, was in town today. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Frazee and daughter went to Wabash for a week’s visit today. Mrs. Amanda Lewis, of Oxford, is here for a few days’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Berry Paris, Mrs. M. Barnum returned to LuPorte, last evening after a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Powers. Uncle Jake Troxell was at Delphi, today, to attend the funeral of his old California companion, Christian Gros. Mrs. W. E. Griffith returned to Washington D. 0. today after a few days visit with her mother Mrs. Mildred 0. Powell and her sister Mrs. Chas. Spitler. Two Italians with long tailed “monks” in short tailed clothes, did a lively if not lucrative business, here this morning. They both had grind organs, of course. G. W. Jenkins, of near Blackford, whose health has been very poor for a Lug time past is in town today for the first time in seven monts. He is visiting his brother, 8. B. Jenkins The high schodT foot ball team played a practice game against a picked up team, yesterday afternoon. The high school team plays a fine game and if they do as well at Monticello Saturday the Monticello boys will know they have been playing foot ball by the time the game is ever. Simon Fendig, the Wheatfield druggist, is in town today. He relates that Geo. Prust, of up that
way recently landed a pickerel that weighed 8f pounds, ur two pounds more than Doc- Kannal’s big oktch. Webb and Hastings, the lads who broke jail at Delphi, are still at large, and the Herald intimates that if the grub they are now getting suits them better than what the sheriff supplied, that no one else will object to their enjoying it. A “progressive dinner party” something new here in church functions, will be held at the residence of Mrs. R. B. Harris on College Avenue, next Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 5 o’clock p. m. The price is 25 cents, and all are invited to attend. Mr. John H Webber and Miss Riffie Norris, daughter of Mrs. Mary Norris were married at 7:30 p. m. Thursday, Oct. 9th, 1902. The ceremony was performed by 3quire J. M. Troxell, in the presence of a small company of the bride’s relatives, It took place in the residence prepared by the' gtoom, in the east part of town Mrs. W. 8, Hartman, who arrived here from Bozeman, Mont., 1 last week, went to Medaryville this week for a week's visit with relatives, after which sue will spend a week with her sister, Miss Nellie lines, in Rensselaer, before returning to Monticello. She will continue her visit hers until the Holidays, and will be joined by her husband before returning home. An automobile party which put up at the Makeever House last night, consisted of J. 8. Cox and wife, of Terre Haute, Mrs. H. V. Sherburne, of Brazil, Lina Wickerle, of Chicago and A. Chaney, of Terre Haute. They had a large and very fine two seated auto? They started from Chicago Thursday, and were headed for Terre Haute. They struck tough traveling from Chicago down. Their machine was propelled by steam, and burned gasoline.
