Goodland Herald; A glance at the political ticket in the Herald will inform yon that the name of Chas. W. Hanley, candidate for judge, appears therein. We have been forewarned that no “paper in Newton county can support Hanley for judge and live twelve months.” We baveoonoluded to try the experiment, as possibly the most welcome thing that oould happen the average country editor would be death —the more immediate the better. The Herald is a Republican paper; it is now about two months nntil election. We can’t afford to give the Republican ticket half support. Whatever our personal opinions may be, they must give way to party subcess, or, we can’t publish a party paper. The present fight, if kept up, means the defeat of the Republican local ticket in Newton county. The Herald doesn’t want to assume any responsibility for such results. So far aS County Chairman Little is concerned we feel that he has been actuated solely by what he considered due him and others as a matter of right and dignity. By him personally knowing his motives, the Herald will stand as a friend. But so far as the judgeship is concerned it is now a political show-down—either a Republican ora Democrat.' The Herald chooses on the “home run” to support the Republican candidate, Mr. Hanley. We expect tt e torrent, gentlemen, so unload it.
