At the regular meeting of the City Council Monday night, but very little, business of importance was transacted. Sidewalks were ordered built in various places about town, aggreating in the whole, perhaps a mile. The Board also passed upon and approved the bicycle ordinance as originally drawn, which prohibits the riding or propelling of any bicycle upon the cement or concrete walks within the corporation limits of Rensselaer under penalty of a fine of not lees than SI.OO nor more than $lO for each such offense. The petition to restrict this ordinance to apply only in front of business bouses did not carry, An emergency clause was attached to this ordinance, which puts it in force immediately upon its passage and publication. The contract for the city printing was let to the Journal office. An ordinance was adopted in relation to the show license business which puts the fees and conditions back to where they were before the passage of the ordinance.
