Monon Terminals For Hammond.
According to the Hammond Tribune, the Monon Ry. Company baa just added a small bat important purchase to its already large holding of land near the road directly south of Hammond. And also that the Monon is preparing to make Hammond its northern terminal point, rather than Chicago: That is. its repair shops, round bouses and everything else in that line will be at Hammond. The conductors, brakemen, shop workers etc., will live there. The reason given for the Monon’s decision to move its yards and shops to Hammond is that the Chicago authorities having ordered all tracks in the city to be elevated it will save an enormous expense to move to Hammond. Of course the passenger train terminal will still be in Chicago.
