Where Joint Snakes Are Thick.
When a joint snake was secured for the school museum, several months ago, it was stated that the creatures were now of Very rare ocourence in Indiana, and that probably not more than a dozen preserved specimens were to be found in the state. It own appears that there is at least one place in the state where they are still numerous. It is the old Johnny Reed farm, in Jordan Tp., this county, now occupied by Jesse Purdum. He is a nephew of L. 8. Alter, of Carpenter Tp„ and Mr. Alter informs us that five of these curious reptiles have been seen on the farm, this year, Four of the poor, harmless, helpless things were killed. The other one was captured alive and put in-a glass jar. But the cover of the jar got loose, and the jointy crawled out, leaving bis broken off tail part.
