As provided by section nine of the special act of 1899, Governor Durbin appointed a commission of three dis-interested non-resident free-holders for tbe purpose of appraising the court house .and other buildings thereto belonging in Newton county, and they have appraised the property, placing the values at $1,000.00. The.’commiSsion was composed of Senator B. Burns of South Bend, Senator George W. Williams of KnightstownandOapt. A. A, Auhier of Montioello. The gentlemen, in company with Murril Moors, assistant Attorney General of Indiana, went to Kentland on Tuesday and and departed on the 11:10 train, having their task,completed in one hour. The appraisement of the buildings at $1,000.00 it is believed will meet with the approval of all parties concerned.
