Newspaper Clipping Carried Over 40 Years.
Wm. Clift, who was n a member of the 31st Indian regiment in the civil war, has a newspaper dipping which he has carried since the fall of 1863, or nearly 40 years. It is Gen. U. S. Rosecrans’ address of congratulations issued to his army after the close of Chattanooga campaign. It is an interesting relic of those stirring times, and very naturally Mr Clift treasures it carefully. He cut it from a paper published at army headquarters, right at the time and place of its publication.
