Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 34, Number 93, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 22 July 1902 — Iroquois Ditch Progress. [ARTICLE]
Iroquois Ditch Progress.
The Iroquois Ditch movement is making progress, as shown by the meeting at the court house, Saturday afternoon. The signers of the petition then numbered 31, and the subscriptions to the expense fund were 61 per cent of the amount being sought for. Discussion of the important question of who should be selected for viewers for the proposed work, brought up the fact that it might be son fid very difficult to secure them in this county, as the ditch is said to include half the people of the county, as owners of affected laud or relatives of owners. A committee was appointed to consider this matter and to canvass the situation in adjoining counties for possible viewers. To each committeeman is assigned one county to look over for viewers, as follows:
Joe Harris. .Newton Co. J. F. Majorßenton Co, Jim WelchWhite Co. B. F. Ferguson Pulaski Co. Frank FoltzStarLCo. G. A. Williams Porter Co-, A. H. Alter Lake Co. Mayor Eger at Large. Another meeting to receive reKrts and take further action will held next Saturday afternoon, July 26th.
