Mose Looks Too Good.

An incident that followed the stealing of Delos Thompson’s big diamond, at Lafayette, was that Attorney Mose Leopold came near being run in by one of Lafayette’s astute detectives, on suspicion. Mose was one of the Rensselaer party in the adjoining room, and this detective, who thought he saw an opening to blossom out as a new Sherlock Holmes, got a line on him as the man who nipped the spark. Mose is far and away the most innocent and guileless looking man in the whole push, and the detective concluded his face looked too good to be natural, especially in comparison with the rest of the Rensselaer sports, and for that reason, he was about ready to take him in, and might have done it had not Mr. Thompson found what he was thinking about, and told him how big a fool he was.
