Fish for Indiana Waters.
Z. T. Sweeney, fish commissioner of Indiana, says that more than 1,000,000 fish will be brought to this state in September or October. “The chief obstacle in the way of enforcing the law,” says Mr. Sweeney, “lies in the fact that people who own land get the idea that everything that lives on that land belongs to them. They feel that they have the right to fish and shoot game as they desire. The courts have decided, however, that whets’ one man’s laud today and another’s tomorrow belongs to the state. However, the people are learning the laws and it is becoming easier to procure convictions. In these trials the people are becoming educated regarding the laws, and there is a better spirit now in regard to enforcing the laws than ip the history of the state.
