A sidewalk oh Kannat Avenue, I was petitioned for. Referred to sidewalk committee. T. H. Robihson and others ask •for an arc light at the street crossing opposite entrance of Weston cemetery. Referred to light committee. The arc dynamo, however, is already overloaded. L. Strong and others filed peti- ■ tion to have the long talked of j Makemself sewer j Asking that the ditch be made into a covered sewer, of adequate dimensions. Referred to committee. On request of 8. P. Thompson the city subscribed $42 to the guaranteed expense fund of Iroquois ditch. Several sewers were ordered repaired and new catch basins put in. , Incandescent street lights were ordered at Clark and Lucina streets near Chas. Battleday’s residence, and at the crossing of Webster and Vine streets. The report of the auditing committee showed there was $258.62 in the firemen’s disability fund, and $5 50 in their general fund. Light fund 892.59 I Road fund.... 401.69 Sinking fund 5,128.29 SpcAddlfund 2,684.55 An ordinance prohibiting bicycle riding on cement sidewalks was introduced and passed to second reading. It will provide a fine of $1 to $lO for riding bicycles on the sidewalks.
An ordinance was passed providing for the street carnival of Aug. 19 to 24th. It gives to Rensselaer Lodge Knights of Pythias, for that week, entire control of Washington street, from Front to Division. Of Van Rensselaer and Cullen from Cornelia street south two and a half blocks. The free use of four arc lights is granted for the Carnival and the free use of City water for the electric fountain. The ordinance also provides a license fee of SIOO per day during the Carnival week for alb shows not oontroled by the Wright Carnival Company. The license fees of all their shows are also to be remitted. Some 42 claims were allowed.
