Nine Days Unconscious.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rice of Gillam tp., accompanied by Dr. ■’ Jones of Medaryville. went to Chicago last Friday p. m. with their 11 year old son, Jesse. He was thrown from a horse, on Saturday, July sth, and struck on his head. Since that time he has been unconscious. They had him in a wagon near the track and as the 2 p. m. train went past he raised up end showed some gleams of consciousness, for the first time since his injury. There are no inj’uries tc be seen on his head, more than some slight bruises on his forehead. Dr. Berkley, who has been treating the case, went to Chicago in the morning, to arrange for his reception and treatment in a hospital. The horse he was riding was the well known running race mare, Belle of Oakwood, which belongs to Mr Rice. She fell in a mud hole, which was the cause of the boy’s injury.
