Onion Prospects, To Date.
Alf Donnelly’s 30 acres of onions have come up smiling from their troubles with high water, and for the most part promise a fair crop. A 3 acre onion field, on the Bruce Porter farm, just across the road from Alf’s suffered much worse, and except a small fringe along the north end, are a total loss. The 300 acres or so near Wheat fild are still deep under water, and are past all help. The Gifford onions, of perhaps 250 acres extent are very badly damaged but at last accounts it was hoped there would still be part of a crop.
