The Accident at Wheatfield.
Fuller particulars have been received of the sad accident which befell 14 year ojd Joe Stump, at Wheatfield, Saturday. The boy had been to the celebration at Dunn’s bridge, and having spent all his money had walked home. He followed down the Three I. track from Dunnville, and when about a half mile east of Wheatfield had sat down beside the track to rest, and evidently fell asleep. A short freight train came along, and probably its noise awoke him and he raised up and was struck by some part of the caboose. This threw him around so that one foot and ankle was crushed under the wheels, and the leg out off about half way to the knee. The injured leg was amputated below the knee, and if this were all of his injuries, his early recovery could be expected. But he is also badly injured at the back of the head, and it is now very doubtful if be can live.
