Rensselaer Celebrated at Lowell.
Rensselaer was pretty near the whole celebration at Lowell, on the 4th. Our military company was there and had a desperate battle with a big band of native, perchance also naked Apache Indians, in which prodigies of valor were shown on both sides. A base ball team from here played a Lowell team, and won by a score of 8 to 6, in Rensselaer’s favor. The Rensselaer Citizens’ band also furnished the music. At a bower dance which was one of the leading features, Rensselaer was especially strong, and Postmaster F. B. Meyer was the undisputed “belle of the ball.” He never missed a call, and bis specialty was dancing with good looking hired girls from Rensselaer. The number of tickets sold here for Lowell was 277.
