Everything around Gifford is under water at this writing. Mrs. Hancock of this p’aee visited her sister, Mr l . Breese near Newland last week. The Gifford 2nd base ball nine will play at Kniinan the fourth and the first nine will play at Parr. Jess Williams made a flyidg trip’ to Knlman the other day, but came back even faster than he went. Wonder why? Wanted: 25 boarders at the new hotel. Guy Beebe, Proprietor. The ice cream supper last Friday night was a fizzle. Mr. Hewit and Dr. Dunfee of Newland were on our streets Sunday. Moses Hancock’s farm is all under water and the muskrats are destroying his corn. He intends to go to Southern Mo , right away, Thos. Tanner says he don’t mind the rain so much as he does the boys playing ball on Sunday. Nute Amose’s horse got cut in the barbwire the other day leaving him pretty sore and blemished, Mr. Pearl Davis also had an accident of the same kind, John Reed lost his team and wagon in a mud hole east of town Sunday night, after about half an hour of hard toil (something new t<? him) Ee got them out and no damage was done. We expect to have a good time if it don’t rain.
