A Legislative Reapportionment.
The reapportionment of the state for legislative purposes will be one of the big jobs of the next session of the legislature. The last legislature reapportioned the congressional districts. The legislative districts are reapportioned every six years on the basis of the voting population. There is a voting population of 694,346 in the state. The. constitution prescribes that there shall be 100 members in the house and 50 in the senate. Tnis gives one representative for 6,943 voters and onfe senator for 13,886 voters and one congressmen for 53,411 voters. Marion county has 58;272 voters and under this rule will get one congressman, four senators, and eight representatives. The counties that will be entitled to their own - senators are Vanderburg, Vigo, Allen, Wayne, Madisori, Delaware, Grant, St. Joseph and Tippecanoe.
