Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 34, Number 88, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 4 July 1902 — Judge Penfield Was Here. [ARTICLE]
Judge Penfield Was Here.
Judge Wm. L. Penfield, the solicitor of the State Department, in the jnet but oourteoua and gentlemanly defense of whose official acts Senator Beveridge incurred the wrath of Bailey, the Texas bully, is a resident of Auburn, Ind. He is a faithful and careful official as well as an able and honorable gentleman, and in no way deserved the censures made upon him by Senator Bailej. He was here during the campaign of 1900, by assignment of the Republican state committee, and addressed a large meeting at Kniman, making one of the best speeches of the campaign heard in Jasper county during the campaign.
