Fined For Fast Driving.
Will Briggs, the tailor, was roped by Constable Vick, about 7 o’clock Tuesday, while driving by with his fast horse at a furious pace. He bad kept it up pretty much all day, greatly to the abuse of the horse and also to the risk of the lives and limbs of various persons. In one case a small child having been rescued by its mother just in time. Briggs plead guilty to fast driving before Squire Burnham, this morning, and was fined $2 and costs, $13.10 in all, which he paid. It was too much corn, in the liquid form, which kept the poor horse on the go so long, and that might have been made the grounds for another prosecution, and cruelty to animals still another. Therefore the sporty tailor may think he got off easy. Briggs says "there are others” when it comes to the fast driving proposition, and the fact is too evident to be denied, though no other exhibition of it quite so flagrant and long continued has occured lately. Still it need surprise no one if some of these others are soon called up to the captain’s office for a settlement, also.
