Sidewalk Bicycling to be Prohibited

The City Council at the regular meeting Monday evening had but little business before them but took one important step, which will directly or indirectly interest a great many people. They unanimously direoted the oity attorney to prepare an ordinance absolutely prohibiting all riding of bioyoles on the sidewalks of Rensselaer. The ordinance will undoubtedly be passed and will be enforoed. A. Rosenbaum was granted his oity license for a saloon. The city attorney was again directed to notify the Monon railiWh company of the great waste of oity water, through "neglected leaks at their water tank. J. H. Hoover, of Cedar street, petitioned to have the streets in his vicinity graded up. Referred to street oommittee. Forty-eight claims were considered and allowed.
