Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 34, Number 82, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 13 June 1902 — Mill Loss Adjusted. [ARTICLE]
Mill Loss Adjusted.
Tbe adjuster for the Millers’ Insurance Co., came down from Chicago Tuesday, and adjusted tbe fire loss on StoDer &r Day’s mill, caused by Sunday night’s fire, He allowed $1,700 for tbe loss sustained. It seems scarcely enough, but the damage sustained, especially to the maohinery is not nearly so great as at first supposed. Even the engine is n u t seriously damaged. The adjuster, after he had seen how great a start the fire had got, and the imflammable nature of the building and contents, wae surprised beyond measure that the fire was put out. He could not get done praising the efficiency of our water works aud fire company, and said i* was only one case in many where a mill got well on fire and escaped total destruction. Verily we have got a wonderful good waterworks system, and a wonderful good fire company to make use of it. But our insurance rates stay up, all the same. To pay fire losses in other towns not so well protected, probably. '
