The City Council.

The Pastors Association sent in a memorial requesting the Council to adopt some meassures for the better enforcement of the Sunday laws. Also requesting the Counoil to investigate ‘‘Various Vices.” The memorial was referred back to the authors with request to make it more specific. New cement walks were extensively ordered: On north side McCoy Ave., from Dr. Berkley’s residence east to H. B. Murray’s. About 500 feet, fa front of Mrs. Isabel Parker’s property, on West Jackson, 138 feet. North side Elm street, from Geo. McCarthy’s to W. H. Beam’s, about 450 feet. On east side Van Rensselaer street, fiom Christian ohtrroh to Mrs. C. Loughridgt’s place, 600 feet. A. Rosenbaum’s application for a city saloon license was held up, on aocount of certain rumors of a “poker joini” alleged to have been seen, recently or remotely, lurking some place in that vicinity. Each of the “lucky 13” firemen who attended the mill fire were allowed $2 50 for their night’s work,

The treasurer’s report shows corporation fund overdrawn $244.09. Water fund on hand, $332.04. Light fnnd on hand, $5.63. The Road fund has standing against it orders presented and not paid, amounting to $1,826.45. Tbe fire ohief was authorized to ereot drying poles for hose company No. 2. The salary ordinanoe was adopted, fixing salaries for ensuing year, as follows:

Mayor and Counoilmen, 12 for each regular and special session. City Clerk, 1150 per year; $2 for eaoh special session; S6O per year, for light, water and street assessment duplicates. City Treasurer, SIOO per year; and $l5O per year for collecting light and water rentals and street assessments. City Marshal, $45 per month. City Attorney, $2 for each session. City engineer, 30 cents for each hour employed. Water works engineer, and electric lights engineer, SSO per month each. Superintendent, Electric lights $75 per month. Fire Chief, Fire Warden, Sec’y Board of Health, each $25 per year. i v I Night Watchman, S4O per month. T, J.
