Hoopty Doodle’s Fame Is Spreading.

Saturday’s Indianapolis News has a spesitJ purporting to be from Rensselaer, giving a history of L. H. Powell, otherwise Hoopty Doodle, the Brook, Newton county man, who has been so regular an inmate of the Jasper county jail for a long time past, but always as a Newton county prisoner. The dispatch is grotesquely incorrect, as it represents Hoopty as a Jasper county man, always committing his deprelations here, and always being released and re-arrested here. And his latest journey back to Kentland, for another trial, is described as an original arrest from that county, and his departure from Rensselaer as an unheard of event. The article is embellished with a picture representing Hoopty hiking out of town on foot, and in the background the band is playing and flags are waving to express the popular joy at his departure.
