The City Council.
The salary of the nightr watch, B. Dillon, was fixed at S4O p?r month. It being thought that better general satisfaction would result if the night watch is paid wholly by the city instead of partly by the business men. H. B. Kurrie resigned as city attorney and G. A, Williams was appointed. C. Kellner and ,H. Hildebrand were issued saloon licenses. The salary ordinance was passed to 3rd reading. The salaries will be finally adjusted at the next meeting. Many new cement sidewalks were ordered, as follows: On south side of Angelica street, from the Presbyterian church to Front street, two blocks. On two sides of J. E. Spitler’s property, corner Cullen and Cornelia streets. Along Mrs. Matie Hopkin’s property, on Washington street, from Front street to the river. On Elm street, fn front of J. W. Groom’s property. On the east side of Van Rensselaer street from Susan to Clark. A distance of nearly three blocks; and of which about one block, in front of light plant and school house park, is city property. A considerable number of claims were allowed.
