About Company M.
Those of our citizens who visited the Camp of the National Guard at Indianapolis, report none sick, no drunks, none in guard house unless the “deserter” breaks in—none starved to death. Comrade Fox “failed to lock his tent.” Private Smith was ordered to procure "guard lines,” but failed to find them. Some of the boys have met their “cousins.” Jim Ellis says he will enlist when there is a call for troops for the next war. The officers and members of Company "M” received many compliments for their soldiery bearing on Dedication Day. When "Johnny Comes Marching Home” (on the oars) every body will join the “Sheep Skin Band” and meet them at the station with an apple pie in each hand.
