An Alarm of Fire.
The fire alarm sounded at 11 o’clock a. m. Thursday and the meet remarkable fact therewith connected, was that it was the first fire alarm we have had in Rensselaer since the 24th of last September a period of ntaily 8 months. It is the longest time between fire alarms since Rensselaer has bad a fire department. This fire was in the roof of John Mann’s residence on Elm street. It started from a spark from a cob fire from the'kitchen flue. Neighbors discovered the fire and had it practically all out before the fire company arrived. The damage done was very slight, a few square yards of shingles comprising it. Quite a quantity of the household goods were taken out, but unnecessarily, as it proved.
