A Clean Sweep.

The Republicans Of Rensselaer Elect Their Entire Ticket Sone By Pretty Close Margins, Bat They Got There Jost The Same.

THE MAJORITIES Ellis, for Mayor .198 Morlan, for Clerk 110 Chapman, for Treasurer 47 Abbott, for Marshal.... 73 For the in several elections the Republicans of Rensselaer have elected their entire ticket, “from stem to gudgeon.” There were a goodjjmany mixed tickets voted, andj some of this scratching made several pretty close shaves ’ for, some of the Republican candidates for councilmen. Thus in the first ward, Phillips and Wood got only 8 more votes than Joe Sharp, and in the third ward, P. C. Wasson was only 5 votes ahead of (John Ohiloote. On the city ticket proper, ' the surprising feature was the big vote piled up for “Bean” Fendig, the democratic candidate for Treasurer. He carried his own ward, the First, by 10£votes, and was the only man on£the Democratic ticket who carried any ward, except “Shorty” Sampson, who also carried his own ward, the Third. The highest combined vote cast, for any one office, was for Marshal, being 545’votes. For Mayor, the total vote’for was only 512. Thisjoomparitively small vote for Mayor is’said to have been owing to an agreement by certain anti-saloon voters in the Third ward, of both parties, who agreed not to vote for the heads of their respective tickets, in order to make the number of j votes oast in the ward smaller, and thus make it easier to successfully remonstrate against saloons in the ward. The following is the vote by wards.
