Death of Mrs. Minnie Cleaver.
Mrs. Minnie Cleaver, for many years a well known resident of Rensselaer, and for a long time owner and manager of a store and hotel near the depot, died Thursday morning, April 24th at 5 o’clock, at the Lakeside hbspital, Chicago, She went there three weeks ago, and after about 3 weeks medical treatment, was operated upon Wednesday, at 5 o’clock, by Dr. Davis, for the removal of an ovarian tumor. She never recovered from the operation, dying just 12 hours later. Her son-in-law Geo. W. Marshall, of near Fair Oaks, was at the hospital during the operation, and remained with her until her death.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Keener, of Fair Oaks, and well known early settlers of the north part of Jasper county, She was'twice married and leaves a son, Wm. Piatt, by the first husband, living near Aix. By the second she leaves two daughters, Mrs. G. W. Marshall, of near Fair Oaks, and a younger daughter, Blanche Minnie Cleaver. The remains were brought to Fair Oaks Thursday, and the funeral held there Friday, at her sister, Mrs. Lambert’s hotel. Rev. Byrd, of Brushwood church conducted the religious services. Interment was made in Prater cemetery, in Barkley Tp.
