Old Man’s Narrow Escape.
Charles Sipe, ninety-one years old, and Thomas Knickerbaker, had a narrow escape from being ground to death under the wheels of the Monon south bound local at Frankfort last Friday. The men were in a spring wagon and started to cross the track while the local crew were doing some switching. Suddenly a cut of cars came down upon them and their wagon was struck mid-ship. Knickerbaker, being a young man, saw the danger and jumped but his older companion was unable to do this. The wagon was demolished, but the bed served as a protection for the old- man. He was rolled and pushed along the tracks for about fifty feet when the oars were stopped. Neither man was hurt.
