A Twentieth Wedding Anniversary.
On the evening of April 12, 1882 Mr. Edward P. Honan and Miss Madge Hemphill were married in Rensselaer. It was a notable wedding of that day, and its 20th anniversary was as notably celebrated la&t Saturday evening, April 12, 1902, at their home on Front street. The guests present numbered about one hundred and included*a large number of those who were present at the original wedding, 20 years ago. t The evening was pleasantly spent in music, conversation and disposed of the elegant wedding supper. Each guest received as a souvenir a hand-painted china pitcher upon which was beautifully painted the dates and name "1882-Honan-1902. Many very fine china-ware presents were received. .
Guests present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Mitchell, of Los Angelos, Calif., cousins of Mrs. Honan, and whose arrival Saturday evening was a great but most agreeable surprise; and from Delphi Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Ryan and Miss Julia Honan. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vanatta, of Fowler, the latter, then Miss Minnie Phillips, having been one of the bridesmaids, at the original wedding. ' The- original wedding ceremony was performed by Judge E. P. Hammond, now of Lafayette, and himself and Mrs. Hammond were expected to be present, but were prevented by the latter’s serious sickness. This wedding and that of Mr. and Mrs. J. F, Hardman, performed a year earlier, to a day, were the only ones ever performed by Judgs Hammond.
