Pickle Factory at Thayer.

Thayer, the little village some 18 miles “up the line” on the Monon, just this side of the Kankakee, is to have a pickle factory. Not the kind of “pickle” their doctor has gotten into on account of too much wife, bnt a real cucumber pickle plant. Chicago parties are behind it, and they contract with residents to raise the cucumbers, and agree to pay 50 cents per bushel for cucumbers, from 2 to 6 inches long. Some 150 acres have been contracted for and it is hoped this amount will be doubled. Work on the foundations of the factory is already in progress. It is stated that an effort will be made to.locate a similar factory at DeMotte, also.
