Fair Oaks.

Our schools have closed for the the summer vacation. Mrs. Dr. Proudly and son Charlie, spent last week with friends and relatives in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. R. O Graves, of Morocco, spent a few da}B last week with friends and relatives in town. Mrs. C, D. Norman, of Rensselaer visited her mother and other relatives in town last Sunday. A number of Rose Lawnites attended the Easter sapper last Saturday evening. Several of the boys from here attended Odd Fellows lodge at Mt Ayr, last Saturday night. Easter Sunday was ushered in with quite a heavy snow storm, but by noon it had about all disappeared. Mrs. P. W. Nelson and daughter Irene, spent a couple of days this week with relatives in Chicago. Mrs. Ed. Kessler visited friends and relatives at DeMotte from Saturday till Monday. Mrs. John Munclon ancTchlldren of Momence, Ill.", are visiting her parents here this week. Mr. and Mrs, O'ean Oviatt, of South Bend, visited her uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fry a few days last week. Mrs. Cottingham and Mrs. Bringle who have been at the Lakeside hospital in Chicago for the past two weeks, report that they are both fast recovering and expect to be well enough to return home in about a week. The Easter supper given by the ladies of the Christian church at the school bouse last Saturday evening was well attended and a success in every way. A number of sewed articles were sold at good prices. Receipts about $27.

Uoion Easter exceroises were held at the M. E. church last Sunday evening and attended by a large and interested audience. The decorations were beautiful and tastefully arranged appropriate to theoooasion, A good program was well rendered interspersed with music by the choir. Mrs. Minnie Cleaver, who has been in very poor health for some time past, is again able to be up and around, aud went to Chicago last Tuesday to consult Dr. Chas. G. Davis, the we’l known specialist in surgery of that city.
