“The Gentleman From Jasper.”

Jesse E. Wilson, of Rensselaer, Nominated For Joint Representative. The Republican representative convention was held at Hammond Wednesday, April 2nd, to nominate a candidate for joint representative for Jasper and Lake counties, in the state legislature. John O’Conner, of Jasper oounty was chairman of the convention and Mr. Brown, of Lake, secretary. The name of Jesse E. Wilson, of Rensselaer, wafer the only one presented to the convention, and he was nominated by acclamation. He is one of Jasper county’s ablest, best read and most successful attorneys, a man of fine attainments, in every way, and of the highest personal character. He will make a foroeful, industrious and vigilant legislator. The convention wps a most pleasant and harmonious assemblage. A number of Lake oonntj’s ‘‘old reliable” wheel horses were present, and made brief speeches, such as A, F. Knotts, Virgil S. Reiter, and others;
