Col. A. A. Powell, registered from New York, baa been a guest of the Makeover House since Saturday night, having driven here from Winamao, by way of Medaryville and Francesville He is the tallest man ever seen in Jasper couuty, without, donbt. He is 7 feet 3£ inches tall, and weighs 275 pounds. He is now a traveling salesman for the “Arm and Hammer” brand of soda, it being a great fad of the soda people to employ very tall salesmen, perhaps to illustrate how their articles makes things “rise,” included even the men that sell it He states that he onoe traveled in Europe with Barnum’s circus. Of oourse he never finds a bed long enough for him, but he doubles himself up like a jackknife and piles in. He does business mostly in the smaller towns and travels generally by team. Monday he visited Me. Coysburg, Lee and Sharon, and Tuesday will take in other neighboring places.
