Spring in on Time.
Today, Friday March 21st, is the date of the vernal or spring equinox, when the sun “crosses the line,” and spring is supposed to begin in the northern hemisphere. Bat so far as the weather goes, and weather after all is the real thing, spring has been doing business with us, more or lees regnlarily, for several weeks. Today is no exception and the weather is very pleasant and balmy, albeit not wholly bright and clear, but a mixture of sunshine and shadow. The direction of the wind at the time of the spring equinox is sometimes held to govern or indicate, in a general way, what its prevailing direction will be for the next three months. Today, its direction was east by south, which if it indicates anything at all would indioate a warm spring and also a rather wet' one, as a southeast wind is pretty apt to stir up a rainstorm before it blows very long.
