Thornton-Abbott Wedding.
Quite a notable matrimonial event took place Thursday evening, March 6th, 1902, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Thornton, a few miles northwest of Rensselaer. It was the marriage of their daughter, Miss Malvina Mae Thornton and Mr. Orlo Abbott, of Appleton, Wis. The ceremony took place at 6 o’clock, and was performed by Rev. Clarence D. Royce, pastor of Trinity M. E. church, and in the presence of about 75 invited guests. Soon after the ceremony all present partook of a most bountiful and appetizing wedding supper. After which the evening was spent in social intercourse, music and admiring the large and fine display of bridal presents. The newly wedded pair will spend a couple of weeks here, visiting their various relatives and friends and then repair to their future home near Appleton, Wis. They will live upon and manage a fine farm 1| miles from Appleton, owned by Mr. Abbott’s father, and will live in a fine new house just built for them. In this connection it will be of interest to mention the circumstances which Mr. Abbott became acquainted with his future bride. It was several years ago, when he was a student at Wisconsin University, and came down here tq spend a portion of his summer vacation with his friend, Prof. Samuel E. Sparling.
