Appeal to Supreme Court.
An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court yesterday by the treasurer, auditor and county assessor of Jasper county from a judgement enjoining the collection of additional taxes assessed against it by the State Board of Taxation The county assessor insists that the telephone instruments in use by the subscribers of the company, its switchboard and its franchise in the streets of Rensselaer were not included in the assessment by the State board, but were subject to local assessment, like its office furniture and repair wagons. He also insists that the capital stock was worth $1,455 more than the whole value of all the company's tangible property.— Indianapolis Journal.
This appeal was taken from the decision against the county, made some time ago in White county, where the case was taken on change of venue.
