A Progressive Party.

Mesdames T. J. McCoy, G. E. Murray, J. H. Chapman and G. K. Hollingsworth with their husbands extended a welcome to their many frieudrMn a novel, and to many unexpected manner, Tuesday evening. The guests were invited to a reception at McCoys at 8 p. m , and there Were greeted by their hostesses and hosts lined up to receive them; the former wearing costumes of green and white, while the latter joined in the color schemes in in their feelings, varying from the faintest sea green tint to the greenest of green shades. A merry time here listening to the graphophone soon ended by the announcement that the next progression was to G. E. Murray’s. There the whole company went preceded by the hosts—and again found green and white in the adornments of the house, while a huge,spider web caught them all in its meshes, with no possibility of release until a partner for the evening was found. This was accomplished by winding up on two spools thirty-three yards of one continuous threacf, while the holders of the spools so joined became partners. A web large enough to accommodate sixty people would excite the envy of the largest tarantula existing, and such a one was found here, which the human flies succeeded in getting out in about an hour’s time. The 10 p. m. progression now found them at J. H. Chapman’s handsome new residence. Here until eleven, dominoes and cards had sway, and at the end of that time, Col, Fred Phillips tried in vain to use his best auctioneering voice, to inform them where the next progression would terminate. Hunger added to instinct made the whole crowd break for the home of G. H. Hollingsworth, here tables were laid for the whole company, fancy cut glass and china vieing in beauty with the green and white table decorations. The graphophone had also progressed, and they ate and made merry to its music until the company finally made the last progression which ended in home and sleep.
