All Star Routes to be R. F. D's.
It will not be long before every “star” mail route in Jasper county will be, to most intents and purposes, a rural free delivery route. A new rule of the postoffice department has been made which will bring this about. It provides that hereafter that when any contract is let for carrying mails on the star routes, the contract shall provide for what is called ''box delivery” That is persons living along the route, or adjacent thereto, may maintain boxes and the carriers must deliver to and take up mail from them the same as the regular rural route carriers. About the only points in which these star routes will differ from rural routes is that the star route carriers cab not register letters, nor sell nor pay money orders.
